"Academic Competencies" Initiative Launched to Employ Qataris in Teaching

In a campaign aimed at hiring Qataris holding higher university qualifications, the Qatari Governmental Civil Service and Development Bureau, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Community College, announced the launch of the "Academic Competencies" initiative in its first session.

This initiative aims to employ Qataris holding post-graduate university qualifications in the teaching staff for the next academic year in the college through the "Kawader" national recruitment platform.

Growing Interest in Supporting the Qatari Higher Education Sector Regionally and Internationally

In a press conference held on Sunday, June 18, in the presence of HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al-Nuaimi, the Director of Civil Service Affairs at the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, Mr. Saif Ali Al-Kaabi, and the President of the Community College, Dr. Khaled Muhammad Al-Hurr, HE Al Nuaimi stressed that the Ministry of Education pays excellent attention to supporting the higher education sector.

The HE Undersecretary stressed the importance of enhancing the competitiveness of the Qatari higher education sector regionally and internationally by promoting the localization of academic jobs by adopting a series of initiatives to support the localization strategies.

He pointed out that among those practical steps, "the academic competencies initiative comes to achieve an important strategic goal based on the need to empower the country's citizens with academic competencies to undertake the tasks of educating generations to build Qatar's bright future."

HE Dr. Al-Nuaimi added that Ph.D. holders will be appointed directly within the academic staff of the Community College. In contrast, holders of a master's degree will be appointed for one year.

The Scholarships Department will then follow up on those appointed according to this program to complete their postgraduate studies at one of Qatar's national universities within one of the required majors. According to the scholarship systems at the Ministry, they will continue to contribute to the development of the educational process in the Community College and the improvement of the performance of its students.
