CGIS and Esri Inc. Collaborate for GIS Technology Day

The Centre for GIS (CGIS) under the Ministry of Municipality, in partnership with Esri Inc. and Mannai InfoTech, celebrated GIS Technology Day with an event at Sheraton Grand Doha. Over 200 Geographic Information System (GIS) professionals from public sector organizations, ministries, and universities gathered to explore the latest advancements in geospatial intelligence.
The event focused on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and sustainability, highlighting the potential of GIS technology to address global challenges. Keynote speakers included CGIS Assistant Director Amer Al Humaidi and Mannai GIS Associate Vice President Pradeep Thomas.
By hosting the event, Qatar solidified its commitment to sustainability and digital transformation, with discussions on adopting cutting-edge technologies to meet geospatial needs. Esri Global Chief Technologist Mansour Raad and Richard Budden, Deputy General Manager of Esri for the Middle East, Africa & Central Asia, shared insights on geospatial AI and location intelligence.
Representatives from various institutions discussed practical GIS technology applications and their potential for enhanced operational performance. CGIS, one of the world's advanced GIS centers, provides official maps and topographic databases for state institutions. Mannai InfoTech, the official distributor for ESRI in Qatar, collaborates closely with CGIS to deliver innovative GIS services.
