The Civil Service Bureau and Government Development announced a partnership with the Global Institute for Innovation Management to hold the first hackathon for government services in Qatar from the 19th to the 21st of March at the Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation Council. It will exclusively target government sector employees to develop innovative solutions to facilitate government services.
The Bureau organized two workshops for innovation in government services, presented to five government agencies and in the presence of more than 60 participants. The workshops allow departments to participate in developing government services and enable employees to use techniques for drawing and tracking government services and proposing the best solutions.
His Excellency Mr. Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, President of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, stressed the importance of organizing the first hackathon in Qatar's strategy for research, development, and innovation 2030. He noted the importance of investing in human resources in the government sector and improving the level of services provided in government agencies.
A hackathon is an event that includes individuals from various fields to find an innovative solution to a problem or challenge presented by teams competing to produce the best project. The hackathon provides a platform for government employees to work together and create sustainable solutions to challenges in the government sector.
It is worth noting that the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau is keen to use the best international experiences in government innovation through partnership and cooperation. With the International Institute for Innovation Management and other organizations' support, the hackathon represents a movement towards advancing innovation and development in the government sector and improving the quality of services provided to citizens in Qatar.
