Ministry of Foreign Affairs Organizes Roundtable on Islamophobia: Collaborative Efforts to Confront Challenges

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a policy roundtable titled "The Roundtable on Islamophobia: Political Frameworks for Facing Challenges."

The roundtable, organized by the Policy and Planning Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delved into the pressing challenges associated with Islamophobia in public policy. Exploring strategies for establishing a new collective approach to combat Islamophobia, policymakers focused on solutions that encompass structural frameworks. Also discussed was how to counter racist narratives that target Islam and Muslims, tackle misleading information propagated by the media, and address social attitudes hostile to Islam.

This initiative aims to shape effective policies in response to the escalating prevalence of Islamophobia worldwide. In her concluding remarks, HE Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, the Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the alarming escalation of anti-Islamic rhetoric in today's world. She stressed that the deliberate targeting of Islam and Muslims has resulted in the suffering of innocent people, manifesting as displacement, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.

Her Excellency highlighted the State of Qatar's clear stance on such incidents and policies, reiterating the nation's commitment to supporting initiatives that combat racism, including Islamophobia and hatred against Muslims. These initiatives encompass educational programs, dialogues, and policies to foster relationships based on mutual understanding and respect.

In his opening speech, Dr. Khalid bin Fahad Al Khater, the Director of the Policy and Planning Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, underscored the importance of recognizing the issue's magnitude and devising appropriate solutions. He emphasized the need to unite against misinformation and raise awareness through media, education, and culture.

Today, Qatar is globally recognized as a staunch advocate of anti-racism policies as the nation actively participates in cooperation activities to eradicate racism.
