Mowasalat, Qatar's government transportation entity, is reinforcing its dedication to environmental preservation on World Environment Day 2023. The company is determined to expand and enhance its existing initiatives to reduce its ecological footprint and promote a greener environment.

Sustainable mobility is at the forefront of Mowasalat's efforts. The company has made strides in electrifying its bus fleet, ensuring zero emissions and minimal noise pollution. It has also replaced all City Taxis with the latest-model hybrid cars, significantly reducing exhaust fumes. Additionally, Mowasalat is exploring the electrification of its light vehicle fleet and emphasizes using digital solutions to improve operational efficiency for cleaner transportation.

Resource management is a crucial focus for Mowasalat. The company has implemented measures to reduce water and electricity consumption, achieving a 27 percent reduction in freshwater usage and a 21 percent decrease in 2022 compared to the previous year. It collaborates with a professional partner to convert food waste from its staff canteens into fertilizers and compost. The resulting compost is used to nourish trees and plants in Karwa City, while drivers are encouraged to cultivate green spaces. In 2022, over 1,600 trees and shrubs were planted.

The company demonstrates its commitment to recycling by responsibly handling used oils, scrap metal, tires, electronics, and paper. These recycling practices minimize waste and contribute to the conservation of natural resources.

The company aims to contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable Qatar through ongoing initiatives and partnerships aligned with the Qatar National Vision 2030. By embracing sustainable practices and adopting innovative solutions, Mowasalat is dedicated to creating a healthier environment for future generations.
