Qatar to launch second clean energy plan in September

Contributing to the global efforts to address climate change, Qatar will launch its second clean energy plan later this year in September, according to His Excellency Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, the Minister of Transport.
In a recent interview with Qatar TV, the Minister stated that “Following Qatar National Vision 2030, we will launch the second part of Qatar’s clean energy plan in September.”
He pointed out that during the FIFA World Cup 2022, 25 percent of the public transport utilized in Qatar was eco-friendly, and that the number of eco-friendly public transport vehicles is expected to rise significantly from 2022 to the end of 2023.
His Excellency further stated, “We are expected to achieve our Qatar National Vision 2030 goals before the target year.”
In line with Qatar’s National Environment and Climate Change Strategy (QNE) goals, Lusail Bus Depot set a Guinness world record last year as the largest electric bus depot in the world with a capacity of 478 buses. The depot utilizes solar energy to charge the buses, with some 11,000 PV solar panels generating 4 megawatts of power daily.
According to the QNE, the State of Qatar aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percent by 2030 as part of a comprehensive sustainability plan.
