The United Kingdom's Home Office has introduced significant visa changes to simplify travel for citizens of Jordan and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Starting from October 2023, Qatari nationals will be the first to experience the benefits of this new system implementation. As part of the UK's innovative Electronic Travel Authorization scheme (ETA), Gulf citizens and Jordanians only need to pay a nominal fee of $12.44 (£10) when applying for an ETA. This authorization will grant them a two-year multiple-entry visa, allowing flexible travel arrangements. These requirements are similar to those of the United States and Australia for citizens of Jordan and the GCC countries.
The UK's Home Office has highlighted that GCC and Jordanian citizens will be among the initial countries to benefit from this scheme.
These visa changes reflect the UK's commitment to fostering stronger ties with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Jordan by facilitating smoother and more accessible travel. These measures are anticipated to encourage increased tourism, business exchanges, and cultural interactions in the United Kingdom.
