Qatar Foundation will shortly unveil its latest addition to its transport network, as the Education City Green Line will soon become operational.

The Green Line will connect Education City’s North Campus – which includes the Qatar National Convention Centre, Sidra Medicine, and Qatar Science and Technology Park – with its South Campus, ensuring seamless transportation between the many universities, research institutes, cultural spots and residential areas over the two campuses.

 The tram is a sustainable means of transport, using a cutting-edge form of battery-charging technology to power the system with electricity over the 11.5 km route.

Test journeys will be taking place over the next few weeks before the Green Line opens to the public.

​

The foundation has sent out a road safety message ahead of the line’s launch, as the tram will soon be frequently crossing the Gharafat/Al Rayyan intersection.

Traffic signals and speed cameras have already been installed, as well as additional roadside barriers. Nonetheless, all drivers and pedestrians are urged to utilize caution while approaching the intersection.
