Qatar’s Ministry of Sports and Youth, represented by the Youth Affairs Department, marked the occasion of Arab Youth Day, which falls on July 5 every year.

In its 66th session, the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers for Youth and Sports ratified July 5 as Arab Youth Day in order to draw the attention of the Arab World to youth issues and pay tribute to the youth’s potential to play a key role in the region.

Director of the Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth Fawaz Al Mesaifri stated that the department had prepared an integrated programme for the day that aimed to promote bonds among Arab youth and recognize their vital role in developing their communities, and solving its issues.

Al Mesaifri added that a wide variety of events, ranging in nature from recreational, sports and awareness raising, had been organized in youth centers around the country to mark the occasion.

In a statement marking the day, the Arab League said it is working to integrate the youth and stimulate their participation in political, social, and cultural life.

The Arab League further noted that this year's Arab Youth Day coincides with the 15th Arab Games, which is being hosted in the Algerian capital of Algiers from July 5 -15.
