Qatari Minister of Municipality elected Vice-Chairman of FAO 43d session

His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Subaie, Minister of Municipality, was elected Vice-Chairman of the forty-third session of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger and improve global nutrition and food security.
His Excellency the Minister of Municipality heads the Qatari delegation participating in the conference.
The session began on July 1 and will continue until July 7 in the Italian capital of Rome under the strategic framework of “Better Production, Better Nutrition, Better Environment and Better Life.”
The conference is set to discuss and take important decisions on a number of key issues, including the role of trade in ensuring global food security, especially in a time of climate change, ongoing humanitarian crises in the Middle East, and spiking food prices worldwide. The conference will likewise discuss how the development of technological and digital innovations in agriculture can help achieve the UN’s sustainable development goals (SDGs).
On the third day of the conference, His Excellency will deliver a speech highlighting the State of Qatar’s desire for continued cooperation and coordination with the FAO as well as all relevant parties to strengthen and build global food systems in a manner that contributes to the SDGs.
