Government representatives from the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia came together in Doha on Monday to solidify their cultural ties by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The inaugural meeting of the Qatar-Saudi Coordination Council's Committee of Culture, Tourism, and Entertainment expressed both countries' commitment to pursuing further ties.

The signing ceremony was attended by esteemed dignitaries, including HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Thani, Minister of Culture, and HH Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Culture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Their signatures on the MoU symbolized a commitment to fostering cultural cooperation, exchanging expertise, and coordinating efforts on shared cultural initiatives. This initiative will involve registering various Arab heritage elements on the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list. Prominent examples include falconry, Arabic coffee, and majlises.

In addition to these cultural endeavors, bilateral cooperation will foster more joint cultural events hosted by both nations. This will encompass active involvement in national events and book fairs, highlighting the mutually beneficial exchange of literary and intellectual works. The collaboration between the two nations will bring more art and culture to the region and draw in visitors – further spreading the contributions of Arab artists and cultural institutions.
